Fitness Program: A four week program that will burn fat, increase strength and help you cardio endurance. I developed this program for myself and hopefully it can work for you too!

The program I have created is based on the “SMART” fitness goal setting idea. With the program I’ve created I have set the Specificgoal to lose 2 pound a week for the next 4 weeks totaling 8 pound over the course of the program. Also I am continuing to work on the goal I developed in this class to achieve a 10 minute mile. I will be able to Measurethese goals by including a mile run in to at least one cardio training per week and record the time it takes, also I have scheduled a weigh in once a week to track the progress of my weight loss. I have included several steps of Action to achieve these goals. The app that I created contains a 4 week workout program designed to burn fat, increase strength and endurance. The workout plan lays out a workout for four days a week that has both a cardio and strength training components. The workouts vary each day, shifting focus to different muscle groups. I have also included a fifth flex workout each week that provides variety and fun to my routine. These flex workouts may include Zumba, Pilates, or even a family workout. Hopefully the goals I have set areRealistic, as this is where I tend to have pitfalls. I have no patience and love instant gratification! This assignment is very specifically Timed. Four weeks is what is given to complete the goals I have set for myself. I do plan on having a weekly reward for achieving the short term (weekly) goals. After having so much success with the Lose it app, it really inspired me to create an app with my personal fitness plan. Having this plan right at my fingertips makes sticking to it so much more convenient.

Here are some features of the app:

  • Daily workout scheduled workout
  • Calendar of workouts
  • Alarm reminder of workout
  • Photos of all strength training workouts
  • Cardio Videos
  • Perfect form Videos
  • Target Heart Rate Training Zones

The Miami Heat

The Miami Heat took a two games to none lead over the New York Knicks yesterday. The defeat proved so frustrating that Knicks forward Amar’e Stoudemire lacerated his hand by punching a fire extinguisher!

Metta World Peace?

“Metta World Peace was ejected from the Los Angeles Lakers’ 114-106 double overtime win over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday after receiving a flagrant foul 2 for hitting James Harden in the head with his elbow.

World Peace threw down a dunk to draw the Lakers to within one, 48-47, with 1:39 remaining in the second quarter. As he made his way back up the court, World Peace started to beat his chest in celebration before striking Harden, who was behind him, in the back of the head with his left elbow, causing the Oklahoma City guard to fall to the floor.” -ESPN

We at Appsbar have seen/heard of some pretty silly occurrences. However, this one takes the cake! Here’s an idea, how about an app showing the most silly and outrageous acts on the internet? Get Started Appsbar Users!

“A Kentucky man landed in jail after posting a picture of himself on Facebook siphoning gas from a police car.

The photo shows Michael Baker, 20, giving the camera the finger as he’s in the process of swiping gas from a Jenkins Police Department squad car. Baker told local TV station WYMT that his girlfriend took the pic.

Baker and his girlfriend Joann Sandelin told the station that the picture was meant as a joke. “We was just standing there and thought it would be funny to take a picture and then post it on Facebook,” said Baker.

“Yeah, we’re sorry, but it was just a joke. I mean if we was going to steal gas, we wouldn’t put it nationwide on Facebook. We don’t steal anyway, but we’re sorry,” said Sandelin.

Baker spent the night in jail for the offense. He was charged with theft by unlawful tanking.”

Tupac “Hologram” at Coachella? Maybe not..

By now we have all seen the video at Coachella of what appears to be a 3D image of Tupac. Otherwise known as a “Hologram”, the video of the concert with a guest appearance by a very real Snoop Dogg has since gone viral. Here’s a look at the video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=ajVGIRsKXdo

“For those who thought the immaculately-chiseled rendition of Tupac was based on some sort of old footage, more disappointment: Rolling Stone reports the rapper was CGI. But at least it was good good, expensive CGI, “created by the Hollywood special effects studio Digital Domain, who have previously worked on films such as The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, TRON: Legacy and X-Men: First Class.” Total price? Somewhere between $100,000 and $400,000. And it paid off: other than the weird super-abs, occasional unintentional moonwalking, and the performance’s finale, wherein Tupac vanished in a burst of light, the whole thing was plenty realistic. With all the weed and ecstasy throbbing through Coachella, there were probably a good number of fans who thought they were actually witnessing a reincarnation.” – Gizmodo

appsbar Reports Rise in Creation of DIY Apps and Downloads of More Than 1.5 Million During 2011 Holiday Season As seen January 04, 2012 in a Calvin Azuri, TMCnet article

http://fixed-mobile-convergence.tmcnet.com/topics/mobile-communications/articles/251529-appsbar-reports-rise-creation-diy-apps-downloads-more.htm

appsbar.com, a provider of opportunities and interface for the development of apps, announced that during the holiday season of 2011, there was a huge surge in DIY apps with a large number of users joining the community. Users clamoured to build their own apps for free at their site with the company further reporting that downloads increased to more than 1.5 million.

Even as Android (News – Alert) and Apple app stores witnessed record activity, appsbar.com witnessed a massive influx of first time creators of DIY apps further expanding its 60,000 strong community base. The company welcomes creators of apps and offers them a platform to both create and publish apps to various app stores free of charge.

In a release, Scott Hirsch, founder of appsbar.com, said, “App stores saw unprecedented activity in 2011, and we predict the evolution will continue through 2012 as mobile device users grow from passive participants to active contributors in what can only be described as a digital phenomena that is driven by everyday people.”

A report from Flurry, mobile apps research firm, revealed that close to a quarter of a billion apps were downloaded on December 24th and again on Christmas Day 2011. Apple’s (News – Alert) App Store is expecting app downloads of approximately 10 billion for the 2011 holiday season. Google’s Android Market on the other hand is expected to see cumulative downloads of more than 10 billion by the end of 2011.

Hirsch said, “There has never been so much activity and opportunity for everyone in the app world. With the on-going development of free tools, anyone can build an app that reflects their unique personality, interests, or business and share it all with the world.”

Within a day of being published, apps created by users of appsbar saw an average 500 to 1000 downloads. The company found that free apps activity at the store mirrors an approach similar to that of social networks that enable increased level of engagement between users and their contacts.

Coupons work in clipped economy Appsbar.com featured in an ALEX FERREIRA article March 3, 2012 New York Post

http://www.nypost.com/p/news/business/coupons_work_in_clipped_economy_5S6DvpvPrOVRompaPpylOP#ixzz1rZEmbRV0

Consumers are clipping mad, redeeming $4.6 billion in coupons last year — a whopping 34.6 percent rise from the pre-recession period of 2007.

“In tough times, people always look for ways to save money,” says Eric Beder, a retail analyst with Brean Murray, Carret and Co. “And coupons are a great way for doing just that.”

There were 3.5 billion coupons redeemed in 2011 — an increase of 6.1 percent from 2010. And this was a stunning 48.6 percent more than just five years ago, according to the US Consumer Coupon Facts Report released by NCH Marketing Services.

Consumers’ love of coupons isn’t surprising during down economic times.

According to a study by The Pew Research Center’s Internet & American Life Project, 69 percent of Americans and 88 percent of Web users search online for recession-related purposes.

Beder believes that many retailers are also learning how coupons can help them grow their customer base and reorganize their marketing strategy.

“Retailers view coupons as another way to drive sales, and the use of the Internet to send out coupons makes the cost even more attractive to them,” he said.

And websites like LivingSocial, Groupon and Facebook are already tempting shoppers with deals.

“Technology puts retailers in the driver’s seat,” said Scott Hirsch, founder of appsbar.com, a free online resource for businesses to build and publish applications dedicated to digital couponing. Retailers, he said, are willing to interact directly with customers via technological mediums in order to gain territory.

“Coupons will not go away,” concludes Steve Hoch, professor of marketing at Wharton University.

“Vigilant consumer behavior is obviously tied to economic cycles, and people use coupons because they are worth it,” Hoch says. “The only big change I see coming is how we interact with coupons through the Internet and mobile apps.”
